Type: White wine
Color: Light yellow
Grapes: Sauvignon Blanc
Country: United States (Napa Valley)
Cakebread Cellars Sauvignon Blanc 2009 is a very unique white wine that balances dry and sweet nicely.
Nose:
Upon uncorking the bottle and taking a sniff I got a rich smell of fruit that bordered on dessert. The aroma was very delightful and will surprise people.
Flavor Profile:
As I alluded to earlier, this Sauvignon Blanc is very interesting. You get a big taste of fruit flavor but you don’t get a big rush of sweetness. This wine is dry and leaves you wanting more.
Body:
I found this bottle to be well-balanced. I found this wine to be full bodied so I suggest specifying this for the entree during dinner.
Finish:
I experienced a long finish that was crisp and full of fruit which is what I expected.
Verdict: I really liked the Cakebread Cellars Sauvignon Blanc 2009. I would pair this bottle with shellfish and some dessert. More importantly this wine would be great in recipes due to its’ dry sweetness. It is priced at $24.00 dollars and would make a great gift to any wine lover that is looking to try something new and fairly complex.

I’m going to look for this one on the shelves. You mentioned a fruity bouquet and flavor but not what frui. Is it citrusy, mild melon, pineappleesque?

Hey Tessa,
It wasn’t really citrus more on the berry side. It was hard to describe. But if I remember correctly you prefer sweeter profiles so I think you would like this Cakebread Cellars. It was full of that aforementioned flavor but still dry how I liked it.
Also I believe there are some recipes with this bottle floating around on the internet. The only thing is the bottle is abotu $25.00 dollars which I know is a lot to pay for wine considering there are so many great economical choices out there.
