There are very few cigar brands that are synonymous with excellence. The Fuente Fuente Opus X line is right in that small circle. Last year I had the distinct pleasure of smoking the Opus X Petit Lancero and I was literally floored on how good it was. The Perfecxion X vitola is its’ shorter and wider cousin, that is just as good if not better.
Presented in a cedar wrapping and red ribbon on the foot, the Opus X Perfecxion is a really nice looking stick. The wrapper is a soft brown color that is near perfect – no visible veins and it is rolled masterfully.
Upon lighting it I got a great taste of earth, cocoa, cream and very light hints of pepper. To describe it in this review doesn’t do it justice. The flavors really married so well – not even five minutes into the smoke I said to a buddy of mine “This is a damn good cigar”.
The construction on the Opus X Perfecxion X made my experience that much more enjoyable. The cigar burned evenly, the draw was spot on and the stark white ash held on like a champ. I couldn’t have asked for more.
The aforementioned flavor profile picked up in intensity during second third and then mellowed out nicely during the finish.
This is an excellent medium bodied cigar that is so good you can enjoy during any time of the day. While they are rather pricey, you know where your money went as soon as you take your first puff with the Perfecxion X. Trust me – they are worth it.
