Emilio AF-2 Toro Cigar Review

Binder: Nicaragua
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro
Filler: Nicaragua, Pennsylvania Ligero
Length: 6
Ring Gauge: 50

Emilio Cigars is an up and coming brand that I came across recently and I’m very glad I did. It is run and operated by cigar enthusiast, shop owner and all around good guy Gary Griffith. His AF2 cigar is great medium bodied stick that you soon will  love just like I did.

The AF2 is a great looking smoke. The wrapper is a light reddish-brown that is uniform from cap to foot. It is firm to the touch and has a peppery sweet aroma to it. It has been aging in my humidor for more than two months and I finally sparked it up to great results.

This toro opened up with deep earthy flavors matched with notes of dark fruit. I felt the strength right away of the Pennsylvania Ligero but I was never overpowered by it – throughout my hour smoking this cigar displayed great balance.

In regards to burn, this cigar smoked like a champ. I found the draw to be perfectly open with just a wee bit of resistance which is my preference. It produced a very stark white ash and never went out me even as I stood on the street during a breezy Manhattan evening.

Going towards the second and final thirds, I picked up some subtle pepper and dark chocolate. The flavor profile left a please coating on my palette leaving me wanting more.

The Emilio AF-2 Toro is a very enjoyable cigar. I would highly recommend it to any smoker looking for a new edition to their medium to full-bodied profile. Even better the price is right in the  $7.00 -  9.00 range making it box worthy.  Long ashes!
