Lately I’ve been drinking mostly Cava in terms of reviewing sparkling wine. I was very excited to experience Segura Viudas Brut Rosé Cava as it is made principally from the Trepat variety and is grown very little nowadays. While the flavor was impressive it didn’t impress me with finesse and body.
Segura Viudas Brut Rosé Cava is a strawberry pink medium to full bodied sparkling wine. Upon my first sip I got a nice profile of cherries. This is a heavy Cava with an acidic finish which I didn’t really care for.
Unfortunately I didn’t find it to be very crisp or well balanced either. I got a rush of big flavor but this Cava still felt young to me where I was just drinking to drink it.
If you do find yourself with Segura Viudas Brut Rosé Cava I suggest enjoying with some food as it is a heavy wine. But even at this low price point I would suggest looking elsewhere in the Brut Rosé Cava category.
