Style Wars: Academy Awards 2012 Men’s Fashion

George Clooney 2012 Academy Awards Red CarpetThe 2012 Academy Awards is always a great showing in black tie fashion. Even though they’re always overshadowed by the women, the gentlemen of Hollywood too had great and less than stellar moments on the red carpet.

George Clooney is always a safe bet within regards to the red carpet. As America’s favorite man I was slightly disappointed by his look tonight. This is standard tuxedo fair that was unique nor inspiring. His date Stacy Keibler was his best accessory.

Jonah Hill 2012 Academy Awards Red CarpetComedic upstart Jonah Hill did the black on black profile rather nicely with a one button tuxedo with an oval lapel. The dark color gives off a slimmer visual but should have shown more shirt cuff for more of a distinguished look.

Pharrell Williams 2012 Academy Awards Red CarpetProducer and fashion mogul Pharrell Williams had the honor of arranging the music for the 2012 Oscar Awards. He stepped out in a three piece suit with satin trimming and a velvet bow tie. I think the cut compliments his small frame well but I was impressed as I was expecting more.

Antonio Banderas 2012 Academy Awards Red CarpetSpaniard Antonio Banderas leaves very little to be desired with an uninspiring one button tuxedo. Even worse are the velvet shoes that do nothing for this outfit. Tisk, tisk, tisk.

P. Diddy 2012 Academy Awards Red CarpetSean “P. Diddy” Combs looked very sharp with a classic one button tuxedo with a narrow peak lapel. The satin bow tie paired and stark white pocket square were great touches as well.

Colin Firth 2012 Academy Awards Red CarpetActor Colin Firth did it absolutely right with his oval lapel tuxedo. It was clean cut, sharp, modern and also let the french cuffs show for that added appeal.

Brad Pitt 2012 Academy Awards Red CarpetBrad Pitt in my opinion half assed it with a very standard tux with satin trimming on the pant leg. The unkept hair prevents any elegance from coming together.

Zachary Quinto 2012 Academy Awards Red CarpetStar Trek star Zachary Quinto was my pick for best dressed with a smart look that offered touches of flair. This one button tuxedo features a purple oval lapel that breaks from the norm but still translates nicely to black tie.

Zachary Quinto 2012 Academy Awards Red CarpetThe skinny bow tie is a perfect compliment that doesn’t clash or overpower the very lean cut of the suit.

Zachary Quinto 2012 Academy Awards Red CarpetAdditionally the black eye glasses and the 5 o’clock shadow beard give him a little character that is Flawlesscrowns.com approved. Cheers!
