Spike Lee “The Dolly Shot” Video Montage

Spike Lee has been very influential in my development as a man over the last year or so. As I child I really was fascinated with his classic take on college life School Daze. Fast forward almost twenty years later his words, not his movies, gravitated me towards the life of Malcolm X.

One of Spike’s cinematographic signature stylings is the dolly shot. This is created by having the subject stand on a dolly to recreate the effect of floating on air. Here is a very cool montage of the dolly shot throughout his work. I tip my hat to Richard L. Cruz for compiling this great video essay. Cheers!
