Thanks to my good friend and fellow blogger E. Maxine Lee of In A Fabulous World,I recently fell in wine all over again. One reason for this new spark is the extraordinary Raymond Vineyards 2008 Generations Cabernet Sauvignon. While I have enjoyed many wines, few have left such a grand impression on me as this bottle.

Raymond Vineyards 2008 Generations Cabernet Sauvignon is a special release. This vintage is made of grapes that were fermented on the skins for 8-10 days to capture the “juicy” fruit before being moved to new, tight-grained, medium toast French oak barrels for 18-20 months of aging before final blending.

On the nose is where I was immediately drawn to this bottle as I sensed the complexity with an array of smells drawing from dark berries, spice and a hidden layer of pepper.

Generations 2008 is a medium bodied wine with tons of depth. Expect a flavor profile consisting of blackberry, coco and more. The body is so smooth and very generous.

Cabernet always has the potential to overwhelm light and delicate dishes so I suggest going with a gorgeous steak or a pasta dish with a rich sauce.

The Raymond Vineyards 2008 Generations Cabernet Sauvignon is truly an experience that should be had by any lover of the grape. An amazing showing by Raymond Vineyards!
