The world of spirits is an ongoing journey of trial, study and innovation. We were recently invited by Dickel Rye Whiskey to expand our knowledge at a bitters seminar hosted by world famous mixologist Dale Degroff.
Hosted at he Down Town Association, a private social club located in the financial district, we were immediately greeted with delicious Dickel cocktails.
The Down Town Association owns one of the oldest buildings in Manhattan and has been immaculately managed to preserve a distinct decor that mirrors the prestige of its’ members.
We enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in their bar area which was decorated like the Duke Brothers from Trading Places were about to walk in.
Upon the conclusion of the cocktail reception we were summoned upstairs to the seminar. Here we were sat down in front of several bitter samples and more Dickel Rye Whiskey.
The star of the night was really Dale DeGroff who gave a thrilling presentation on the history of bitters.
Dale walked us through the distinct differences of 5 different bitters including his own Pimento Aromatic Bitters.
And to conclude what seemed to be a flawless evening we were graciously hosted to a private sit down dinner upstairs.
We want to sincerely thank Taylor Strategy, George Dickel, the Down Town Association and Dale DeGroff for a lovely evening and advancing our knowledge on spirits. It was a night we will never forget. Cheers!
