Anna de Codorniu Cava Brut Review
Type: Cava
Color: Straw Yellow
Grapes: 70% Chardonnay, 15% Parellada, 15% Macabeo
Country: Spain (Penedés)
In the world of bubbly, Cava hasn’t reached the popularity of Prosecco and will never take the throne of champagne. I had the pleasure of coming across a lovely bottle this weekend that really showed what Spain could do.
Anna de Codorniu is the best selling sparkler in Spain and the United Kingdom with good reason. It displays delicate aromas of tropical fruit such as pineapple as well as citrus, grapefruit and lime. Furthermore this Brut is very soft and fresh on the palate. I found the flavor profile to be rich with citrus notes but still well balanced with a dry finish.
I only enjoyed it with a mild cigar but this Cava is perfect to pair with most crustaceans and white fish. While I’m sure this bottle would fit the bill for your mimosa needs, it drinks just fine independently chilled. Cheers!
great tasting, great price!
