Asprey London Champagne Cooler
The Asprey London Champagne Cooler is an ode to the legendary Beverly Hills Hotel, the ‘Pink Palace’ at the top of Rodeo Drive and Sunset Boulevard, where celebs and A-listers still go to see, be seen and hide away. And, presumably, to sip the finest chilled champagne.
The Asprey London Champagne Cooler lush marquetry motif in fifty shades of green takes its cue from the Martinique banana leaf wallpaper still lulling guests of the Beverly Hills Hotel into forgetting their first world troubles. A selection of green pressure-dyed timbers are inlaid into a pink mother-of-pearl background, a labor-intensive process requiring a scalpel and patience.
Concealed drawers at the base of the bamboo green sides store a set of eight striped coasters in pink mother-of-pearl and green paua shell, echoing the striped canopy made famous in vintage photographs of the hotel’s lobby. The banana leaf marquetry chest features secret handles (pinned with sterling silver). An insulated custom stainless steel cooler sits into the marquetry chest; lift out the steel cooler to empty the ice. Hand rubbed matte lacquer finish throughout.
