Filler: Dominican Republic
Length: 4 7/8
Ring Gauge: 40
During my last trip to my local Davidoff cigar shop, I was turned on to the AVO Heritage line. The Avo brand was founded by musician and composer Avo Uvezian with the help of master blender Hendrik Kelner. Hendrik Kelner manufacturers the Avo brand in the Dominican Republic along with the renowned Davidoff brand. The AVO Heritage is said to be one of their heartier smokes at a relatively low price tag for an AVO. I was sold!
Construction:
The AVO Heritage is a very well made cigar. The wrapper is an oily reddish brown and is rolled to perfection. There are a couple of veins present but it only adds to the character of this stick. From cap to foot this cigar is firm to the touch; if you ever find a cigar that has soft spots be cautious as it may negatively affect your smoking experience. Additionally the classic AVO band gets a new face lift with the addition of some darker colors.
This robusto has a great scent to it as well. I got a sweet spice when I sniffed the foot. When smoking this AVO the burn was very nice and didn’t go out on me once. The ash was a stark white and held on strong through half of my smoking experience. The draw was on point as well as I got ample amounts of smoke on each pull. When you see and try this cigar in person you will definitely notice the attention to superior construction as in most Davidoff cigars.
Flavor Profile:
I got a nice taste of cream mixed with some earthy flavors all wrapped around an ongoing spice. My only complaint with the Heritage was that it was a bit too dry for my taste. Personally I like to enjoy my cigars without any liquids so I can really savor and analyze the flavor. Needless to say I suggest having something to drink with this stick.
Strength:
The AVO Heritage is touted as a medium to full cigar and I agree with that assessment. Upfront you’ll feel the medium and as it burns into the second third it will get more full. It is a nice progression that is very smooth and makes for a very enjoyable smoke.
Verdict:
I had a good time smoking the AVO Heritage Robusto. It looks great and is very well put together. This cigar is a solid pick if you are looking for a medium to full-bodied smoke that will burn like a champ and not cause you any headaches. With proper aging these will be really special cigars.
Long ashes!
nice!
I haven’t tried this cigar yet but I will let you know when I do! I love the blog. I am certain IЎЇll be back again and can send out some of my close friends.
