Bacardi enters the spiced rum market with Bacardi OakHeart Spiced Rum. While spiced rum is usually mixed, Bacardi promises that OakHeart is smooth enough to be enjoyed neat.

OakHeart is compromised of Bacardi Superior, Bacardi Gold, and a blend of spices that include maple, cinnamon, nutmeg, honey, vanilla and caramel before being filtered.

According to the press release, “the color is medium golden amber. The nose brings smoky sweet dried fruits and citrus, rich creamy butterscotch, vanilla and spice. Initial flavors of maple and honey lead to vanilla custard, finishing with a sweetly peppered, smooth bouquet.”

The signature and most obvious cocktail being presented is the Oak & Coke. Bacardi OakHeart Spiced Rum is being launched in September nationally and will be priced at $15.00 dollars for a 750ml bottle.

Admittedly I am not a big fan of spiced rum, but I am interested to see how smooth OahHeart will be. Look for a formal review soon. Cheers!
