As a lover of wine we have long admired Bordeaux for its significance. The French take their wine very seriously and they should; they excel at it. For a couple of months we have experimented with different Bordeauxs, (Pinot Noir we still love you), to great results. The Chateau Serilhan Saint Estephe 2006 is a bottle that is simple but worthy of your spend.

Bordeaux is the most famous blend in the world. Typically made up of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes. this wine growing region has distinct styles that have helped cement France’s legacy in wine.

We were recently referred to Chateau Serilhan Saint Estephe 2006 and we were not disappointed one bit. On the nose we got some dark fruit with an underlying hint of spice.

Upon our first sip we were greeted with a straightforward opening of fruit and earth. This is a very smooth Bordeaux with a semi dry clean finish that will appeal to lovers of medium bodied California style Cabernet. It is very well balanced so there was no misalignment of sweetness or oak.

We paired the Chateau Serilhan Saint Estephe 2006 with some pasta and it worked very well but we wished there was some sirloin in the picture for a true test. Overall this is a solid value wine that will definitely earn your respect. Cheers!
