Ashton is a brand I have long respected. The Ashton Cigar company makes six different lines of cigars and one of them is the Cabinet Series. The Cabinet Series is considered the “White Burgundy” of cigars.  “White Burgundy” gets its rich complex taste from the soil and aging of the grape in French oak barrels.

The Cabinet’s 4 to 5 year old Dominican filler blend has a rich, complex and well rounded taste. The Connecticut shade wrapper is aged for an extra year and has an elegant color resulting in a smooth and creamy flavor.

I was fortunate of being gifted an Ashton Cabinet Series Belicoso a couple of weeks ago and it goes without saying I was very excited. Upon a first glance, I noticed a couple of small cracks in the wrapper. Sometimes cigars are just rolled poorly, or it wasn’t given the proper care at the retailer.

Nevertheless I was excited to get going with this Ashton. After cutting it I got a great pre-light draw. Upon lighting it I got an immediate taste of cream which was very pleasing.

As I progressed deeper into this smoke, the creamy buttery flavor was consistent and this cigar stayed in a mild to medium zone.  In regards to construction, it burned well.

The ash was a stark white and the burn line didn’t get out of control on me. Going into the final third I found some spice kicking in but it wasn’t so offensive that it turn me away.

I had a good time with this cigar and would definitely buy in the future.  If you are looking for a sturdy but tasty mild cigar I highly suggest the Ashton Cabinet Series Belicoso.
