Crémant d’Alsace Calixte Brut Rosé Sparkling Wine
My love of champagne and sparkling wines has no geographic boundaries. If it pops, then I will pop it. Yesterday I met my match with the Crémant d’Alsace Calixte Brut Rosé.
Named after Pope Calixtus II who served in the 12th century, this bold rosé sparkler hails from the region of Alsace which is a land between France and Germany. Wines hailing from Alsace are said to be a blend of both cultures.
Sparkling wines designated Crémant are produced using the traditional method of being harvested by hand and being aged for one year.
The Crémant d’Alsace Calixte Brut Rosé carries a pale pink color. On the nose I got some flowery aromas. Upon my first sip I was truly taken by surprise how full this brut rosé was. It was very heavy and strong. I usually sip champagne rather fast, but I had to really sip this one out.
The flavor profile was of dry fruit with a crisp and smooth finish. I suggest you pair this bottle up with a meaty entrée rather than toasting with it.
Priced under $20.00 dollars the Crémant d’Alsace Calixte Brut Rosé is a great buy. From my understanding it isn’t very easy to find in the states but if you are a lover of rosé, then give it a try. Cheers!
Impressive review….great price for one trying to explore beyond all of the hip hop marketed brands!
Thanks you!
I really like the taste and price of this bottle
can you make this happen for my birthday… thanks… you know i love cigars and the rararar rose champagne…
Great selection. A lot of consumers are unaware of Cremant and how enjoyable it is similar to Champagne.
