Davidoff Escurio 10th Anniversary Cigar
2025 marks the tenth anniversary of Davidoff Escurio – a cigar with a rhythm all its own and the first Davidoff cigar to blend Brazilian and Dominican tobaccos. To celebrate the occasion, Davidoff’s Master Blenders created a unique limited-edition gran toro cigar. The blend consists of well-aged Brazilian and Dominican tobaccos. For extra sweetness and depth, one of the Dominican fillers was fermented in a bourbon cask for six months.
Brazil’s Bahia region, with its humid, salty air and erratic rainfall, produces robust, spicy tobacco, while the Dominican Republic’s fresh water and stable climate produce a creamier, smoother flavor. Both are reflected and come into play in the gran toro: The cigar opens with creamy and toasted flavors and notes of coffee – a combination much like a cappuccino.
A long praliné-like aftertaste lingers on the palate and is accompanied by a hint of vanilla bean. The second third is characterized by dominant notes of leather, complemented by dried apricots and liquorice. Towards the end of the Davidoff Escurio cigar, hints of bittersweet chocolate and almonds blend beautifully with the sweetness of acacia honey.
The choice of bourbon adds a smooth, slightly sweeter note to the cocktail, which pairs perfectly with the cigar’s flavours of leather and bittersweet chocolate. Additional notes of vanilla from the bourbon whiskey and the bourbon cask aged tobacco round off the experience.
