I have been privileged and more so blessed to eat at some high-profile restaurants in my lifetime. For my second wedding anniversary I wanted to treat my wife to a really special night with a new dining experience for the both of us. I chose Daniel and we were both blown away from the moment we arrived at this upper east side eating house.
Named after Chef Boulud, Daniel specializes in contemporary French Cuisine. Set in a luxurious hotel dining room, the restaurant has a nice warm feel to it. It was quiet and sophisticated but wasn’t stuffy even with a jacket only policy for men.
Daniel has an impeccable staff. We were treated with top-notch hospitality minus the white gloves and all were very knowledgeable in terms of preparation, ingredients used, and more. What really blew me away was their wine selection. Their list is more than 1600 bottles deep and is compiled in a double banded leather-bound book.
Before our entrees, we were treated to a “tasting of the water” which included miniature servings of salmon, and more. As you are served each dish, the staff synchronizes their efforts to ensure all parties at the table are handed their plate at the exact same moment. Even more impressive is the plating. The presentation from the appetizers to the desert were like a pieces of art.
The food was extraordinary. The flavors were complex and you can taste the freshness of the ingredients with each bite. It was an experience to say the least. Even as we finished our desert, we were treated to complimentary specialty deserts for our special occasion.
While you will pay a king’s ransom, Daniel is a dining experience not to be missed!
Besides a tasting of the Salmon, what did you two eat? What are the ingredients? How is the food prepared. What is on the menu? It looks beautiful so I’m curious.
Happy Annie to yall!
