Puerto Rico is like a second home to me. My wife and I both have family there so we always have an urge to visit. I haven’t been there in about a year so I was excited to get away. Last minute I booked a room at the Embassy Suites Hotel & Casino in San Juan and it ended up being the highlight of my trip.
The Embassy Suites Hotel & Casino is a Hilton property nestled right in the heart of the Isla Verde section of Puerto Rico. While it is vast in size, there were so many personal touches that made it clear to us that they pay attention to detail.
Once I walked in I was impressed with the layout of the hotel as it has a rectangular structure with an empty center. Every floor has a view of the lobby floor which houses several restaurants, lobby, waterfall and more.
Check is at 4:00PM but we arrived very early so the general manager Maribel gave us several options for us to get situated which included access to their pool area.
While the pool was smaller than what I expected, it was very well kept with plenty of chairs to get comfortable. There is also a separate children’s area with miniature playground and shallow kiddie pool. My only complaint was that the umbrellas needed to be weighted so the wind does blow them down which happened a couple of times during our stay.
Normally I am hesitant on patronizing poolside bars. From experiences the alcohol is low grade, expensive and the bartenders can’t make good drinks. That was not the case with Embassy Suites. All the drinks I ordered were done very well and packed a punch.
Once we were done at the pool we went to check in to our room. Room 310 had plenty of room with a pull out couch, small dining room table, full bathroom, king sized bed and computer station.
What really made me fall in love with his property was all the complimentary offers. Every morning a free continental breakfast is served featuring custom omelets and a buffet of food which scrambled eggs, fruit, cereals, meats, juices, coffee, french toast and more.
On top of that they offer a daily cocktail reception at night which is also free. Usually hotel cocktail receptions are just beer and wine but they were serving mixed drinks as well. The liquor available was reputable and there were no restrictions.
Overall the Embassy Suites Hotel & Casino surpassed my expectations in terms of service and accommodation. I highly suggest considering them for your next stay in Puerto Rico; it was the perfect end to an already memorable vacation.
Cheers!
Nice. I’ve always been a fan of Embassy Suites properties, from the early 90’s! I’ve never had a bad experience.
