Exploration is key within regards to finding yourself. This includes style, passion and even preferred libations. Flaviar, a new spirits subscription service, makes things so easy for you to identify your newest liquid love.

How it works is simple. Flaviar mails you tasting kits from one specific category of spirits. You get get very cool looking package of 45ml viles that are individually labeled. You taste through all the selections and well; you have a great time. We were offered a complimentary set for review and naturally we chose whisky.

In the tasting kit we received the following:

• Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Solera Reserve
• Talisker Storm
• Laphroaig Quarter Cask
• Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve
• Auchentoshan 12 Year Old

We decided to wait until the entire staff was together to taste through the kit and we found that tailgating before a New York Giants versus Philadelphia Eagles at Met Life Stadium was a good fit.

We were very familiar with the Glenlivet and Glenfiddich, so the intrigue was all about the other three brands. The Talisker Storm was complex with hints of spice;very good. The Auchentoshan 12 Year Old makes its’ age apparent with a beautiful bouquet of aromas on the nose that just romance the taste buds with big flavor. It was the Laphroaig Quarter Cask that was magic in a bottle though. A mix of oak and fruit that was silky smooth and easy on the finish; a real treat.

Overall we can say with confidence Flaviar is the way to go. You get to taste through some offerings you may not be familiar with or be reintroduced so some long lost loves. Regardless, when you figure out what is in or out, you can up the ante with the monthly subscription service so your shelves are always adequately stocked.
