While I am not a true gadget techie, I do appreciate the return I see when I invest my monies into premium electronics. The good people at Harman sent over a pair of the JBL Synchros S700 headphones and thanks to them I am now too an audio snob.

Visually the JBL Synchros S700 stood out right away. It stayed clear of the often imitated plastic look of Beats By Dre. The die cast aluminum design gives these sets a real serious tone. Additionally the ear pads are connected by steel band making for a really secure fit.

Typically I only use headphones when I am exercising. So I took the JBL Synchros S700 with me on a two mile run at the iconic Macomb Dam Park at Yankee Stadium.
The music I play while training is high intensity; a lot of synthesizer and samples. I usually keep the volume high to keep me going through those tough work outs so I was looking forward to seeing how the S700’s would perform.
Simply put the JBL S700’s sound amazing. I felt like I was listening to speakers in a small room versus just listening to tunes in my head. With these headsets I was able to pick up very little nuances that I have never heard before in songs that I have been playing most of my life. Also I came to the realization that a lot of the early 90’s Rap music I grew up is mixed very poorly.

In terms of functionality, the JBL Synchros S700 are made for easy use. They are rechargeable through USB and the battery, when fully charged, gives you 24 hours of listening time. What I found most useful was the microphone and three button control at the head of the cord. You can accept calls quite easily while using the Synchros S700, adjust volume without missing a step.

Overall the JBL Synchros S700 headphones bring music to life. If you are looking for a more serious approach to mobile audio, then give these sets a try. You won’t be disappointed.
