Grapes: 100% Cabernet Franc
Country: United States (Napa Valley)
Cabernet Franc is a wine that shares similarities to Cabernet Sauvignon but with some noticeable differences. My first experience with this grape comes courtesy of Judd’s Hill winery. I would like to thank them for inviting us to taste such a beautiful bottle.
The Judd’s Hill 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Franc is a wine that can only be classified as delicious. On the nose we got aromas of blackberry and dark chocolate with hints of licorice.
Upon tasting we were greeted with a texture that was rich; it is one of those unique wines that shows both complexity and restraint. We got an array of fruit and floral notes that played a specific role in the profile without ruining its’ fine balance.
Furthermore the 2010 is versatile enough with its’ medium body to be enjoyed alone or paired with a meal. We suggest going with a hanger steak, mushrooms and herbed dishes.
Overall the Judd’s Hill 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Franc is a true blockbuster. This is one of those bottles that you will fall in love with and want to romance for years to come. Additionally the price is a steal considering the quality of this wine. Bravo to Finkelstein family for such a spectacular showing.
