Kanu Private Island
Some experiences are so unique that they instantly implore you to book dates. The Kanu Private Island is how you holiday like royalty.
Off the coast of Placencia, Belize sits a rare coral island of incomparable beauty, its white sands sloping gently into the Caribbean Sea. Kanu Private Island, opening in the summer of 2019, is only 15 minutes by boat from the mainland, but offers a one-of-a-kind sanctuary.
The 2.5-acre island ensures privacy with five huge 1,000-square-foot villas, each containing a breezily chic master bedroom suite, high bamboo ceilings, huge resort bathrooms with outdoor showers, high end finish out and custom local furniture. Some villas also have large soaking tubs and one has a loft for kids.
At the center of the island is the huge palm thatched central area that contains the living room, dinning room, large bar and kitchen flanked by the large in-ground fresh water swimming pool complete with swim up bar. The soothing design palette incorporates coral stone and amazing rose wood flooring, complemented with accent shades of the sea and sun.
But the real star at Kanu is the dazzling ocean, visible at every turn. The underwater sights are equally impressive, thanks to fish-filled house coral reef just off the island. A 20-minute boat ride transports visitors to the Belize Barrier Reef for an even more expansive look at the region’s famous aquatic ecosystem.
At your beck and call is a full time concierge, maids, massage therapist and a personal chef that will prepare all your meals. Also included is a large fresh water pool and a boat with captain available for local fishing and snorkeling close to the island.
The destination accommodates up to 20 people; rates start at $4,250.00 a night.
