Korbel Brut Rosé California Champagne Review
Type: California Champagne
Color: Pale Pink
Grapes: Pinot Noir, Chenin Blanc, Colombard
Country: United States (California)
Korbel is a brand that I have always enjoyed in passing but never have specifically sought out. This past weekend I had the chance to taste their Korbel Brut Rosé. Korbel Brut Rosé is made in California, so technically this isn’t champagne but relies on a “semi-generic” provision under U.S. law. While I wasn’t disappointed I wasn’t impressed either.
The color is a very pale pink that doesn’t look very appealing although the body was very lively as the bubbles lasted longer than some other pricier champagnes. On the nose I got a brush of dry strawberry.
Upon my first sip I found the Korbel Brut Rosé to be really refreshing but lacking the finesse and complexity that I look forward to in my bubbly. Additionally the off dry finish wasn’t very crisp.
If you have an affinity for champagne and sparkling wines then this bottle might not do it for you. But if you are looking for a very economically priced rosé to quench an easy thirst then consider Korbel Brut Rosé. Cheers!
I’m not a big fan of Korbel at all but I can definitely tolerate their Rose’
I admit, California bubbly’s are sweeter and not as crisp as the french. But California grape vines are younger sunnier happier like the cows. Pick some oranges out back 4 mimosas & jump in the deep end, it’s the wild wild west, come on over we’ll BBQ
Cool weblog, I actually look ahead to up-dates of your stuff.
I don’t agree, korbell califonia pink rose champayne is delicious,we all have different taste,i rarely drink it but i found the pink pin rose to be excellent, the ratings were high at the liquor store,it’s not a sickly sweet and ir spaking delicious with no bite
Hey Mary,
Like I’ve always said everyone’s opinion differs with wine – so I am glad you enjoyed this bottle.
Personally it wasn’t for me. Liked I said I found it to be very young and lacked any complexity or finesse which are key characteristics to fine champagne / sparkling wines.
I would say to optimize this selection mix it with some pineapple juice for a nice alternative to mimosas. Cheers!
the pink rose is delicious
