The La Aurora Corojo is a cigar that was introduced last year at the 78th annual IPCPR (International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailer Association) convention in New Orleans. Reviews praising this cigar have been coming from everywhere since its release. I am here to tell you it is one of the best cigars you will ever smoke.
The La Aurora Corojo Robusto is a really good looking cigar. It is well constructed and features a nice chocolate wrapper. There are some veins present but that is nothing to be worried about. Both cigars I smoked for this review were tightly packed and had no soft spots. On the nose I got hints of spice. The banding is doubled giving this line an extra touch of class.
Upon lighting I got an immediate taste of spice and some other woodsy and earthy flavors. These flavors were all dry to me which intrigued me even more. The draw is wide open and I am getting plenty of smoke with each pull which is great. The dull grey ash is proving to be sturdy early on and the burn line is pretty much steady.
Almost an half hour into this smoke I am hooked. All the aforementioned flavors are more prominent now in the second third of this cigar. I am picking up on some sweeter tones which I welcome.
In regards to the burn I haven’t had a problem in either cigar. It never went out on me and I didn’t have to touch it up with the lighter. Additionally the ash held on an inch or higher in my both times smoking this Robusto.
While this is a big flavored smoke it isn’t an overpowering cigar. Overall I would say it lands in a medium body zone with some flashes of full body during the second third.
Almost an hour into things, I smoke fast, I am regretting that I am almost done with this La Aurora Corojo Robusto. I really love the flavor profile of spice, earth and sweet cocoa that remain so consistent and more importantly balanced. So much so I smoked both cigars to the nub.
Overall the La Aurora Corojo Robusto is my new favorite cigar. It burns like a dream and taste great. Safe to say I will be ordering some soon to keep them in regular rotation in my humidor. If any of you haven’t smoked this stick out yet I implore you to try the the Corojo line out. It is a solid smoke and it is priced right at $6.00 online. The La Aurora Corojo is available in other sizes including a Grand Corona, Belicoso, and a Double Corona for those looking for a different vitola.
Long ashes!
Good cigar
