The Leica x Hodinkee Q2 Ghost Camera is a horologically-themed edition of the perfect everyday camera that is ideal for watch lovers. 

Following in the spectral footsteps of our Leica M10-P “Ghost Edition” For Hodinkee released in 2019, the brand’s over-achieving Q2 is now the next camera to receive the Ghost treatment. The new Leica Q2 “Ghost” Set by Hodinkee offers our unique colorway on a model that set the standard for a professional-grade point-and-shoot in a manner only possible via Leica. As watch enthusiasts that often need to snap a wristshot of some incredible watch without switching cameras, we are longstanding fans of the Q platform and the Q2 only raises the bar with its multitalented feature set.

It’s small and easy to carry but sports a full-frame sensor, lightning-fast autofocus, and an incredible prime lens. This is a one-camera solution capable of gorgeous wrist shots, family portraits, vacation snapshots, and everything in between. The Leica Q2 “Ghost” Set By Hodinkee is an homage not only to the look of some of our favorite watches but also a love letter to one of our favorite – and most often used – cameras from Leica.

Part of a limited edition of just 150 full sets, and colored to invoke the ghostly faded bezels of some of our favorite well-loved dive watches, the Leica x Hodinkee Q2 Ghost Camera is a major departure from the black paint common to the standard body of the Leica Q2. First, the camera’s magnesium alloy body has been painted in a soft grey and wrapped in smooth tonal grey leather, the latter of which has been specially coated to reliably protect the Leica Q2 “Ghost” from the elements. In a first for the Q2, the lens has been coated in an anodized silver finish that not only calls to mind the steel case of a sturdy dive watch but also plays into the distinct subtlety of the Ghost colorway. Further pursuing a monochromatic appeal, the traditional “red dot” Leica logo has been omitted and the top plate signature has been rendered with Leica’s vintage signature in yet another shade of warm grey, just as it was on the Leica M10-P “Ghost Edition” for Hodinkee.

Finishing the grey and ghostly effect, the Leica Q2 “Ghost” Set By Hodinkee includes not only a silver aluminum thumb grip but also a grey woven Leica rope strap similar to that offered with the “Ghost Edition” M10-P. On the back of the camera, framing the Q2’s 3-inch LCD display is a special – and subtle – engraving showing “GHOST SET BY HODINKEE” above the display and, below, the specific number for the set within the limited edition made for Hodinkee. All these small details come together to ensure that the Leica Q2 Ghost is a specific and collectible limited edition of an already very special camera.
