There are certain wines that you will grow an affinity for after several tastings due to capturing of subtle complexities, and hidden layers. On the other hand there are some selections that immediately stun you with their brilliance. Upon a suggestion from a good friend, we recently picked up the 2014 Meiomi Pinot Noir and we were instantly in love.
As avid Pinot Noir drinkers, we lean towards Oregon as they tend to have a delicacy that we admire. We were in for a pleasant surprise with from their California neighbors.
On the nose the 2014 Meiomi Pinot Noir is super expressive with a beautiful array of fruit, oak and vanilla. On the first sip we were instantly impressed with how good this wine is. It is rich with savory flavors of blackberry, plum and a faint stroke of black currant.
The body is also stellar as you get a medium to full offering that is balanced by a very rich, supple and velvety texture. Meiomi houses this vintage in all French oak barrels which gives this 2014 vintage a very unique finish that will leave you craving more.
At a 20 dollar price point, the 2014 Meiomi Pinot Noir drinks like 70 dollar bottle. This is so good it is case worthy. We suggest you pick up a couple of bottles at least. Let us know your thoughts in that comments section. Cheers!
agree that at $20 it is case worthy!
