With all the great and recent opportunities in my life since that have been awarded to me since the top of May, my time to enjoy the great city of New York has been limited. While I still try to live my best life I haven’t really come across any eateries that left a resounding impression on me. This was changed last weekend when a good friend suggest I go to Miss Maude’s Spoonbread Too in Harlem.
Specializing on authentic Southern cuisine, Miss Maude’s Spoonbread Too is a small and quaint establishment that make’s you feel comfortable the moment you walk through the doors. All their chairs are wooden and they serve lemonade and other juice beverages in jars. I was definitely excited.
Upon placing our order my good friend and I were greeted with a warm serving of cornbread. While I am not big on cornbread I must say Spoonbread got this right. It had great texture and the taste was spot on.
A nice surprise was their wine list. They offer a small but solid list of wines that I was familiar with on a very positive note. I ordered a glass of Riesling and it put me in a great mood. For my main entree I ordered the grilled salmon with macaroni and cheese and candied yams.
The salmon was cooked well and was seasoned lightly enough that I can still get the taste of the grill. Their macaroni and cheese had a great consistency where it had some weight to it but it wasn’t too heavy. The yams were also tasty because they didn’t over power me with brown sugar and cinnamon. My good friend enjoyed his oxtails as well.
Overall Miss Maude’s Spoonbread Too Restaurant was a big moment for me. As one of my new favorites restaurants, I will definitely be returning soon. Cheers!
