Moët & Chandon Launches Dom Pérignon 2003 Vintage Champagne
2002 was a storied year for French wine growers due to the ripeness of the fruit that season. On the contrary 2003 was a true challenge. After an usually harsh dry Winter, the severe frosts of April 7th-11th devastated the grape crop. This was followed by the hottest Summer in 53 years.
Cellar Master Richard Geoffroy faced a great challenge in making the Dom Pérignon 2003 but it is being touted as one of the finest examples of vintage champagnes in some time.
“The perfectly balanced 2003 is the upshot of a powerful tension between the white and black grapes. The vintage has character, but remains quintessentially Dom Pérignon with a round, rhythmical finish that dances delicately between mineral and floral flavors.
It was a risk, which may be rewarded now. It’s at the heart of the house’s values – we’re committed to vintage Champagne. My wish is for Dom Pérignon 2003 to remain one of the greatest examples of the vintage in the history of Champagne, I wish every single vintage could be as strong as 2003.”
Dom Pérignon 2003 Vintage Champagne will be available at the top of 2012 and will be priced at $190.00 dollars. Cheers!
Dom is one of my favorite vintage Champagne producers. It is definitely worth the price tag
This is definitely my favorite
