Mortlach Single Malt Whisky
Hailing from Speyside, Mortlach brings bold flavor that will be an exciting discovery for whisky enthusiasts. Their newly relaunched selections offer unique expressions with each bottle.
Using a complex 2.81 distilling process which has been guarded across generations, Mortlach has introduced three new releases: Mortlach 12-Year-Old Wee Witchie, Mortlach 16-Year-Old Distiller’s Dram and Mortlach 20-Year-Old Cowie’s Blue Seal. Below are the individual tasting notes.
Mortlach 12-Year-Old Wee Witchie ($50):
Oaky, soft vanilla and crème brûlée leads into poached pear and caramelized orange. Gentle, zesty flavors of citrus and cream with a little clove and maltyness at the end.
Mortlach 16-Year-Old Distiller’s Dram ($100):
Opens with a sweet, dry baking spice character with cinnamon, allspice and cacao powder. This moves into a mid-palate of overripe banana and a rich butterscotch with hints of jasmine tea and acacia honey.
Mortlach 20-Year-Old Cowie’s Blue Seal ($200):
Huge bursts of caramelized apple and dark berries are delivered with a wonderful rich, mouth coating viscosity, this then develops into dark chocolate coated malted milk balls and honey dipped fig slices.
