Orphan Barrel Releases Whoop & Holler Whisky
Orphan Barrel continues to push the American Whisky category with their newest release Whoop & Holler. Aged for almost three decades, this expression has a mash bill of 84% corn, 8% rye and 8% malted barley.
Whoop & Holler is a 28-year-old, charcoal-mellowed American whisky that was distilled at the George Dickel distillery in Tullahoma, Tennessee. This whisky was made using Cascade Spring water that runs through ancient limestone. It is first chilled and then charcoal mellowed with Tennessee sugar maple charcoal that is burned on site.
The name is also a point of difference. In Tennessee, a “whoop and holler” is an enthusiastic howl, embodied by the illustrations of two whooping cranes whose calls can carry several miles.
As far as tasting notes, Whoop & Holler is touted as oak forward with spicy peppercorn, clove, dark chocolate and peanut shell tones. At 84 proof, Whoop & Holler is available now and is priced at $175.00. Considering the winning streak Orphan Barrel has been on the last few years, we expect Whoop & Holler to be worth every penny.
