When I first started smoking cigars I would stick to softer more milder smokes just because I didn’t want to deal with any strong harshness. As my palette developed a bit more I soon started trying cigars of all brands, wrappers and tobacco.
Since then I rarely met a cigar that I flat out disliked. Sadly I had a run with the Perdomo Habano Carojo Robusto that broke my Brett Favre streak.
I happen to be at my local cigar lounge and decided to pick up this the Perdomo Habano Corojo Robusto. It initially stuck out to me because of its big bands and nice Corojo wrapper. The price was nice too at $9.00 dollars which was great for a Manhattan brick and mortar location.
This robusto is tightly rolled and has a nice grainy feel to it. On the nose I got a hints of earth.
Upon toasting the foot I got a freakishly intense rush of pepper to the point where it took me by surprise. It was so strong I had to put it down. Another turn off was the draw. It was very tight and I had to take real deep pulls to get some decent smoke.
As far as construction the ash is a bright grey and is very flaky. About ten minutes into this cigar it has gone out on me twice.
Rounding into the second third of this smoke things have unfortunately remained the same for me. The heavy peppery flavor is still as pronounced as before with no real complexity. Every time I exhaled I felt the urge for some water. In regards to the strength it is landing at a medium body zone.
Even before I got to the final third of this Perdomo, I had a hard time keeping it lit. Luckily I was there with a good smoking buddy of mine and he was smoking the same stick. He experienced the same burn problems and then some. We were both tired of fighting with it and decided to put it to bed.
Overall the Perdomo Habano Corojo Robusto was a total bust for me. I would never even look at this cigar again to purchase. But as always feel free to drop a comment on your experience with this stick; maybe you had a better time with it.
Long ashes!
i had this cigar, i didn’t experience the problem you had, the Perdomo Grand Cru is cool. really stronger then this one. if you really want to burn your lungs out, try the camacho black….
I hate harsh cigars. they ruin my day
Spot on with this write-up, I actually assume this website wants way more consideration. I’ll in all probability be once more to read far more, thanks for that info.
We need a lot more inshitgs like this!
