When it comes to champagne in the Manhattan social scene the usual suspects are Moët, Vueve Clicquot, Dom Perignon and Armand de Brignac. While all great in their respective areas, there are many other bottles that deserve your attention as well. Say hello to Pol Roger Brut Rosé.

Established in 1849, Pol Roger Champagne has been favored by some of the most influential and powerful individuals throughout history including Winston Churchill. Long known for their Pure Brut (no sugar added), their 2002 Rosé Vintage is outstanding.

A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, this pink bubbly is very rich in flavor and full bodied. On the nose I got a nice floral bouquet. I got a very crisp and defined flavor profile. It was fruity but wasn’t candy sweet but still very vibrant and intense.

Priced around $115.00 dollars, this bottle isn’t cheap but you will definitely know where your money went when you sip it. Normally I would offer a cigar pairing with any wine or spirit I blog about, but certain bottles you have to drink straight up for a true appreciation. Glasses high.
