The Ralph Lauren Purple Label Alligator Weekend Bag is the ultimate traveling companion.
Made in Italy this bag is made of 100% alligator leather. This bag comes with a detachable shoulder strap, a padlock and keys with leather holder and a leather address card holder.
I religiously follow this blog and I think I’d wear 90% of what’s displayed here, however, I was wondering if carrying a $24,000 bag doesn’t makes you look vulgar. I’m not going into the debate about the recession, the 1% or that you could buy a small apartment in Detroit with that, no, I’m not. I’m just trying to decide if this loud statement of opulence, if this kind of sheer display of wealth is well, tacky. My idea of elegance is of an understated one, meaning that I could be wearing let’s say, a $24,000 Vaucheron Constantin watch but only the connoisseurs would know how much I paid, the rest would just see a classy watch. Sorry for this rant but this is something that has been on my mind and this post just triggered a lot of thoughts. Thanks for this great blog. Cheers.
Thanks for your continued support. In my opinion I don’t think this bag makes the owner look vulgar. It’s about individual and personal taste. I think if the price tag was hanging from it or even slightly visible, then that would be in very poor taste. I try to cover luxury at all price points which could be a nine dollar bottle of wine, a 200.00 dollar watch, or this bag. So I try to stay balanced in my journalistic approach and hope you to continue to check in. If you ever have any suggestions for coverage then feel free to email me at info @ flawless dot com. I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks for replying, I feel really flattered that you took the time to do so. Maybe I didn’t explain myself well, but I actually love the bag and one of the things I like the most about your blog is the wide range of price points you cover, without forgetting that, of course, this is a luxury blog. The bag may not have a price tag, but most people can tell that alligator skin goods are extremely expensive, we know shoes made of that are pricey so imagine a bag. When I said vulgar I wasn’t talking about the bag or the owner. because in fact it’s tremendously classy and elegant piece of luggage, it was about having something that says too loud that you have a lot of money, I’d say the same about a watch with diamonds or a thick gold chain, that’s just my opinion, but don’t get me wrong, I love luxury and since I’m single and have no kids I can afford to spend a lot on it, and I’m glad to say many of my purchases were inspired by things I saw on your wonderful blog.
truly luxurious.
Nice bag. Any shoes to go with it?
Considering your style, I would suggest the Tod’s Gommino Loafer http://wp.me/pSZbU-1hg. You can’t go wrong with it.
This is spicy!
