The Arcade Cabinet
If you want to bring classic video games home but want to ensure they align with your modern décor, look no further than the The Arcade Cabinet.
The design does not want to be too different from the original for this reason the side profile recalls the shape of the classic game room cabinet, the edges have been rounded to give greater relief to the processing of the plywood curvature. For a lighter and more streamlined shape, the side panels have been eliminated and the rear has been tapered.
The structure is made of multilayer birch wood with a thickness of 30mm. The body is divided into 6 pieces that are assembled together using special pins and screws in a very simple way like an Ikea piece of furniture. This solution was adopted to simplify the wood structure manufacturing process and to have a reduced footprint once the product is packed and shipped.
At the hardware level, The Arcade Cabinet uses a 24-inch LCD touch screen display and a raspberry Pi4 in which the Retropie software has been installed, which allows you to emulate over 60 game systems such as: Amiga, Atari, Commodore, Dreamcast, Nintendo, Sega, PC, PlayStation and many more. It is also possible with a simple support to install a console and related accessories and thus have a complete game station to play both the retro games of the past years and the current games of modern consoles.
