Veuve Clicquot Champagne Launches Extra Brut Extra Old
Vueve Clicquot has recently introduced its’ newest addition to an already very portfolio. Extra Brut Extra Old is Veuve’s first low sugar dosage cuvée thus falling into the Extra Brut category.
“Except for Cave Privée, this is the first extra brut we have made; officially this is the first Champagne of Veuve Clicquot to show this level of sugar,” said Cellar Master Dominique Demarville.
The Extra Old is due to the reserve wines that make up this release. Vueve Clicquot Extra Brut Extra Old is made up six different vintages spanning from 1988 to 2010. All the wines is this blend were aged for a minimum of three years.
“The idea is to explore this collection of reserve wines and to use the oldest reserve wines of our collection to create the blend of Extra Brut Extra Old,” he said. The blend consists of 47% Pinot Noir, 27% Chardonnay and 26% Meunier.
Decanter described the wine as poised with an intensity of aromas/ flavours, greengage, peach and spiced lemon, a soupçon of liberating oak; toasty finale.
This bottle looks interesting to say the least. Considering we avoid champagnes with a sweet finish, this seems to be right up our alley. Let us know your thoughts on Veuve Clicquot Extra Brut Extra Old in the comments section below.
