Country: United States (Central Coast)
Often times wine can be a complex world to navigate. So we look forward to sharing casual gems with our readers. The Woodwork 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is just that; no hassle and full on flavor.
What gave this bottle an instant point of difference is the bouquet of aromas upon uncorking the bottle. On the nose we got dark chocolate, black cherry and currant. The fragrance was such a nice treat; the underlying chocolate notes gave us an instant craving.
Upon tasting we were greeted with a velvet texture that was nicely complimented with a mix of dark fruit. This is a medium body wine with the perfect amount of dryness; it remains smooth throughout from start to finish.
While we paired it with ribeye, asparagus and garlic mash potatoes (trust us, it can stand up to bold flavor), the Woodwork 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is soft enough to play with desserts as well.
Another interesting note is that Woodwork has teamed with food blogger and recipe creator Nick Evans of Machismo.
“Woodwork is perfect for grilling and food pairing because the Woodwork winemaker, Monica Belavic, is so passionate about crafting great wine” says Evans. “The Cabernet Sauvignon, for example, is really robust without being pretentious. It pairs nicely with almost anything on the grill, but I think it’s particularly good with barbecue!”
Priced under $20.00 dollars, for us the Woodwork 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is a win. Consider this selection for your upcoming holiday festivities. Cheers!
