The BON Luxury Theme Park Is A $1.5 Billion Playground Opening In Mexico This Month

Theme parks aren’t usually associated with luxury, but VidantaWorld is betting $1.5 billion that travelers are ready for both. The BON Luxury Theme Park is preparing to open in Mexico’s Vallarta–Nuevo Nayarit region on October 24, introducing a sprawling entertainment destination that combines thrill rides, immersive themed worlds, upscale dining, live entertainment and resort-level hospitality.
Billed as the world’s first luxury theme park, BON — short for Beauty of Nature — is part of the larger VidantaWorld destination developed by Grupo Vidanta. Rather than simply building another collection of roller coasters and family attractions, the company is attempting to apply the space, service and comfort associated with a luxury resort to the traditional theme park experience. The October 24 debut will be a phased soft opening available exclusively to guests staying at VidantaWorld, with BON expected to open to the general public in April 2027.

BON Luxury Theme Park Wants to Redefine the Theme Park Experience
Theme parks have spent decades competing through bigger rides, recognizable characters and increasingly elaborate immersive lands. BON Luxury Theme Park is taking a slightly different approach by positioning luxury itself as part of the attraction.
The park draws inspiration from Mexico’s natural landscape, mythology and imagination rather than leaning on licensed movie, television or comic book characters. Original environments and stories have been built around jungles, lagoons and other elements of the country’s landscape, creating an entertainment universe unique to BON.
The bigger distinction, however, may be how guests move through it. BON is designed to operate with intentionally limited nightly capacity, giving visitors more space while theoretically reducing some of the crowding and waiting that define visits to many major amusement parks. The park will operate during the evenings from Tuesday through Saturday.
Disney and Universal have mastered immersive entertainment at enormous scale, while BON is attempting to deliver some of that same spectacle through the lens of a premium resort, where the quality of the overall experience matters just as much as the number of attractions checked off before closing time.

Inside the Five Worlds of BON Luxury Theme Park
Five of BON’s eventual seven themed worlds are scheduled to welcome guests when the soft opening begins: Laguna Feliz, Celebration Lagoon, Crystal Star Plaza, Discovery Jungle and Adventure Valley.
Discovery Jungle will be home to The Rise of Soluma, a suspended roller coaster that carries riders beneath the track while reaching speeds of approximately 34 mph. Over in Laguna Feliz, the Floresta Drop takes guests roughly 130 feet above the surrounding landscape before sending them back toward the ground.
Adventure Valley shifts the focus toward attractions that can be shared across generations, including Time Quest, while Celebration Lagoon becomes a nighttime centerpiece thanks to The Crater, a fountain, water and light spectacle designed to come alive after dark.
BON Luxury Theme Park is launching with 14 attractions across the five available worlds, but the park is intentionally being introduced in stages. Eventually, all seven themed worlds are expected to house more than 20 attractions and experiences as additional portions of the destination come online. That gradual rollout also gives BON something increasingly valuable in destination travel: a reason for visitors to return.

BON Luxury Theme Park Is More Than Roller Coasters
The luxury argument becomes clearer when BON is viewed as part of VidantaWorld rather than as a standalone amusement park. Dining, lounges, open gathering spaces and live entertainment are integrated into the park, while luxury accommodations, golf, pools, beaches and other resort amenities are part of the surrounding VidantaWorld ecosystem.
The goal is less about arriving in the morning, riding everything possible and heading back to a parking lot at night, and more about making BON part of the vacation itself. One of its marquee entertainment offerings is Cirque du Soleil LUDÕ, a resident production housed inside a custom theater at the destination. The water-driven show combines live performance, visual storytelling and gastronomy, extending the concept of BON well beyond traditional theme park rides.
That broader mix also helps explain why VidantaWorld is emphasizing an all-generations approach. There are thrill rides for guests chasing adrenaline, family attractions for younger visitors, restaurants and lounges for those who would rather slow things down, and entertainment capable of anchoring an entire evening.

When Does BON Luxury Theme Park Open?
BON Luxury Theme Park begins its phased soft opening on October 24, 2026, but there is an important catch for anyone considering an immediate trip to Mexico. During the initial soft-opening period, admission is available exclusively to guests staying at VidantaWorld Vallarta–Nuevo Nayarit, and tickets to BON are sold separately and remain subject to availability.
The park is expected to open to the general public in April 2027, while additional attractions, experiences and themed areas will continue to debut as BON moves toward its complete seven-world vision. For travelers already planning a VidantaWorld stay this fall, October offers the chance to experience a $1.5 billion theme park before the gates officially open to everyone else.

Mexico Is Betting Bigger on Luxury Travel
BON arrives as Mexico continues expanding beyond the traditional definition of a luxury beach vacation. Destinations including Los Cabos, Riviera Maya and Riviera Nayarit have increasingly attracted travelers looking for exceptional restaurants, private residences, wellness experiences, architecture and access to memorable activities alongside five-star accommodations.
A beautiful suite and infinity pool are no longer always enough, as experiences have become an increasingly important part of the luxury proposition. BON Luxury Theme Park takes that idea to an entirely different scale by treating entertainment as part of the resort experience rather than something guests leave the property to find.
The biggest question is whether travelers accustomed to luxury hotels, private villas and high-touch service will embrace a theme park as part of that same world. With $1.5 billion behind the experiment, BON Luxury Theme Park is positioning itself as one of the boldest tests yet of how far luxury travel can expand beyond the traditional resort model.
