Day 1 Of Crown Royal’s “Capture The Crown” Expedition
While Nascar fans gear up for one of the biggest races of the year today at the Brickyard, we too revved up our engines. Yesterday we were fueled by award winning Canadian Whisky, five star dining and more importantly impeccable hospitality from our family at Crown Royal.
As we shared earlier this week, we were lucky enough to be invited by Crown Royal Whisky to participate in their “Capture The Crown” expedition in Indianapolis during the Nascar Sprint Series Race. Our first day of the trip was breathtaking to say the least.
After a very cozy flight into Indianapolis we were picked up via a car service and whisked away to our hotel at the JW Marriot. Upon check in we were greeted with a very cool welcome packet from Crown Royal.
It contained four miniature selections from their portfolio and a limited edition t-shirt to commemorate this weekend’s events.
The hotel was very spacious and gave us a beautiful view to enjoy our tasty treats.
After getting settled in we met with the rest of the invitees and the team at Crown Royal Whisky for dinner at Georgia Reese’s Southern Table & Bar in downtown Indianapolis.
Here we were treated to a delicious menu of food that paired beautifully with the Crown Royal tasting.
Master of Whisky Stephen Wilson brilliantly walked us through a very insightful tutorial on the spirit. We learned a couple of new things including that there is no wrong way to enjoy whisky. Some of our peers even added a splash of cranberry juice to it which was a first for us.
Of course we also enjoyed some of their signature cocktail recipes. While all were refreshing, the Northern Buck was our favorite for the night.
The Northern Buck:
- Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye
- Lime Juice
- Fever Tree Ginger Beer
- Mint Sprigs
Combine Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye and lime juice in shaker. Add ice. Shake well. Strain into highball glass. Top with ginger beer. Garnish with mint sprigs.
We dinned on some of the best southern food you will eat including alligator gumbo, which was surprisingly light and creole shrimp with grits.
Overall our first night with Crown Royal was a first class experience from start to finish. We can only imagine what day two will be like.

Cheers!

[…] After a great kickoff and even more phenomenal second day, our third day of the Crown Royal “Capture The Crown” expedition was something to behold. The scavenger hunt concluded with Team Joe coming in first place. While we didn’t win the iPad prizes, I can say with confidence that the “Capture The Crown” was one of the bigger highlights of the weekend. […]
