When it comes to Rum, few brands can match the legacy of Don Q. The family at Destilería Serrallés has unveiled their newest addition to their portfolio in Don Q Oak Barrel Spiced Rum.

As one of the first to hold the finished product we must say we are impressed. It is cool to see the Don Q brand get a modern update in terms of labeling and bottle silhouette.

Don Q Oak Barrel Spiced Rum is a toted as “a spiced spirit that invokes vanilla, cinnamon and caramel cream on the palate and warms with a slow soft finish.

What makes this selection unique is that it is made using 3 year aged rum that was stored in American white oak barrels. It is also 90% proof so we are curious to see how the power of this rum balanced to ensure a smooth finish.

If Don Q Oak Barrel Spiced Rum is reminiscent of Don Q’s Gran Añejo, then rum drinkers should be excited. Stay tuned for a formal review in the near future. Cheers!
