At the end of June I had the pleasure of the launch of the new Joya de Nicaragua Cabinetta Serie Lancero hosted at Nat Sherman. While the event was more than memorable, the purpose was to highlight this a great addition to the world of Lanceros.
The Cabinetta Serie Lancero is a unique looking cigar with a touch of Nicaraguan Criollo wrapper at the head and a Ecuadorian Shade wrapper covering the rest of the stick. For an added touch it is finished with a pigtail on the cap which should always be cut at the end of the ‘knot’ for the best draw. One thing that did catch me off guard was how soft to the touch it was. Usually I look for my cigars to be nicely packed but that’s just a personal preference.
Upon lighting I got a great first impression from this cigar. I got a nice nutty coco flavor that had me hooked instantly. This cigar burned very well for me. It produced a sturdy dull grey ash that held on very well for the first inch.
Rounding the second third of this smoke, the flavor profile pretty much remained with some spice fading in and out. My favorite characteristic of this Joya de Nicaragua Cabinetta Serie was its’ body.
This is a well-balanced mild cigar that is very smooth and can be enjoyed during anytime of the day. If you previously have strayed from the Lancero vitola, the Joya de Nicaragua Cabinetta Serie is a perfect start.
