Yellowstone Bourbon 2026 Limited Edition Uses Two Port Cask Finishes

Yellowstone Bourbon is returning to its namesake landscape for the inspiration behind its newest annual release. The Yellowstone Bourbon 2026 Limited Edition combines 7- and 14-year-old Kentucky straight bourbons finished separately in Ruby and Tawny Port casks. The two components are then married and bottled at 101 proof, creating the 11th expression in the brand’s annual Limited Edition series.
Rather than using the Port finish simply to add another layer of sweetness, Master Distiller Stephen Beam built this year’s bourbon around contrast. The concept draws from the shifting light, vivid colors and deep shadows found throughout the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone in Yellowstone National Park.

Two Port Casks Inspired By Light And Shadow
For the 2026 release, the bourbons were divided and finished in two different styles of Port cask before the final blend was assembled. The Ruby Port casks represent the brighter side of the landscape, including the warm red tones created when sunlight reaches the canyon. Ruby Port finishes are generally associated with fresher berry and red-fruit characteristics.
The Tawny Port casks represent the darker shadows along the canyon floor. Because Tawny Port spends more time aging in wood, its casks can contribute deeper dried-fruit, toasted nut and oak-driven qualities. Bringing the two finishes together gives Beam a way to balance brightness and richness without allowing either side to dominate the bourbon. “Using Ruby and Tawny Port casks allowed me to capture that contrast and translate it into a bourbon that feels dynamic and complete,” Beam said in a statement.
That narrative gives the release more identity than the average finished bourbon. The treatment is connected directly to the Yellowstone Bourbon name rather than feeling like an experimental cask choice added only for novelty.

Yellowstone Limited Edition 2026 Blends 7- And 14-Year Bourbons
The foundation of the whiskey is a combination of Kentucky straight bourbons aged for seven and 14 years. The younger bourbon should provide more immediate sweetness and fruit, while the older component adds mature oak and additional structure. Each portion was finished separately before the two sides were brought together and bottled at 101 proof, or 50.5 percent alcohol by volume.
That 101-proof presentation is substantial enough to preserve the character of the older whiskey and Port casks without pushing the release into overly aggressive territory. Yellowstone’s official tasting notes open with charred oak, blackberry and plum on the nose, accompanied by a thread of piloncillo. The palate is described as velvety, moving through caramelized sugar and dark fruit before developing dark chocolate. Roasted nuts, clove and additional dark chocolate carry through the finish.
Early impressions suggest the Yellowstone Bourbon bottle may reveal even more variation once poured, with additional notes of toffee, walnut, baked apple, spiced apple butter, cocoa, stewed berries, fig and cherry appearing throughout the whiskey.

The 11th Chapter In An Annual Collector Series
Limestone Branch Distillery introduced the modern Yellowstone Limited Edition series in 2015, giving Beam an annual opportunity to explore older whiskey, specialized blends and secondary cask finishes. The 2026 bottle follows a particularly successful anniversary release. Yellowstone Limited Edition 2025 blended 10-year-old straight bourbons from Limestone Branch and sister distillery Ross & Squibb. It was later ranked among the year’s notable whiskey releases, helping build additional anticipation around this year’s follow-up.
The annual series also serves as a bridge between Yellowstone’s historic name and its modern identity. The bourbon brand dates to 1872, when it was named in honor of the newly established Yellowstone National Park. It later became one of Kentucky’s leading bourbons before Stephen Beam helped revive the name at Limestone Branch Distillery. Beam carries lineage from both the Beam and Dant distilling families, giving the revived Yellowstone brand a genuine connection to generations of Kentucky whiskey production rather than a heritage story assembled purely for marketing.
Yellowstone Bourbon 2026 Limited Edition Price And Availability
The Yellowstone Bourbon 2026 Limited Edition carries a suggested retail price of $99 for a 750-milliliter bottle. It is currently available through the Limestone Branch Distillery Visitor Center in Lebanon, Kentucky. Select retailers across the United States are expected to begin receiving bottles in August 2026. Yellowstone has not announced the total number of bottles produced, meaning availability may differ considerably by market.
At $99, the release lands in a compelling position for an annual collectible that includes 14-year-old Kentucky bourbon and two individual Port-cask finishes. More importantly, Yellowstone has given those components a reason to exist together.
The result is not merely bourbon with a wine finish. It is an interpretation of changing light, deep shadows and one of America’s most recognizable landscapes—captured through two casks and poured from a single bottle.
